I am not a witness, never have been, but I need to understand a few things. My best friend was raised a JW but left when she married a catholic 23 years ago. 18 months ago she started going back to meetings. Since then I have noticed that she has gone from self sufficient to being a big time user. She had developed a habit of standing me up. The only times she comes by anymore is when she needs money, food ect. Last year she threatened to leave her husband and withhold the kids from him...

Ex Jehovah's Witness, No Longer Religious

I was raised as in the Jehovah's Witness religion. I am no longer a witness as of January 2009. From reading what other ex JW's have written, I get the feeling that most of us stay religious, or believe in God. I have always leaned towards belief in evolution (or even the idea that if there is a God, he used evolution to create) and recently have found atheism to make a lot more sense. Is there anyone else who has backed away not only from the Jw's/organized religion, but also...

Night before last, a little after midnight, my wife and I were laying in bed after turning off the TV. Our bedroom window faces north-west, and we saw it light up... as though the Sun was out for a couple of seconds. The wife said: "What was THAT?" I thought maybe it was a passing car's headlights, but our window is not in the path of another street, so I didn't know what to think, no big deal.

Yesterday, we learn it was a meteor about the size of a washing...

on how to get a teenager (not my teenager) to help clean the house?

my husband and i are fostering this 16 year old girl. she has some issues like anxiety, nightmares, panic attacks... at first we cut her slack because of these things... big mistake though! i mean she still has the problems, but when i give her her chores she seems to think she doesn't have to do them.. she'll have a "panic attack" saying i reminded her of her abusive mother by asking her to do...
