The saying that all good things come to an end someday is of course very true. It doesn't exclude our site either obviously...
After giving it careful and long consideration, I'm ready to "retire" from the ex-jw forum world and the hosting duties. I hope all here understand that I've liked the volunteer work for a long time, but would prefer to end this chapter and explore other things too----after all, we don't get forever to live!
I've seen more than just one exjw forum go out on negative notes. That's definitely not the case here and I'm thankful for that. Our site has been open well over 11 years which is much more than I ever expected or would have imagined we would achieve.
I personally think we've done a GREAT job in helping a LOT of people explore other paths outside the jw organization and we've accumulated tons of good posts and information too.
We still will keep the posting option open for another month or so to give people time to see our announcement and make posts-----and post links if they care to for other sites to post on. September 19th 2015 is when the tentative date is to switch over to view or read only for the board.
I hope we can keep our site in tact and keep it where people can stop by to read at any time for a very long time-----years possibly----or as long as yuku lets us!
I joined the ex-jw posting boards in 2002, so I've had my fill and I think it's good to pass the torch to others around the ex-jw world to keep the flame burning. It's a very good cause imo and is why I'm pleased we've done it for over a decade.
First, a very big thank you to all the positive people who've posted here over the years. Everyone here makes up all the help, encouragement and knowledge that entails what the site is!
Another big thank you to the moderators who spent there time here helping us. The site needed that volunteer job done too. I know it wasn't always easy either all the time....
And, very likely that the biggest thank you goes to my co-admin. Sam since she's been so good to work with and contributed so much (as member, moderator and administrator)--------including adding another close to 5 years to the site's active posting life. I couldn't have done the admin job without her assistance, especially in the last 5 years or so.
Still another month of posting and our site will never just disappear after that. Everyone should be able to log in after that too, but bring reading glasses since there is plenty to read, even if no posting.
