Need help with history question about marriages
Hello all. I'm here looking for a few answers. I've been meeting regularly with two Witnesses who come here each Saturday for a "Bible Study." It really isn't one though; it is more of an on-going apologetic session. I'm a practicing Catholic and something moved my heart to ask these poor souls in for a few questions. It has turned into months of back and forth. In my research of all things JW, I watched an old video of two former Witnesses available on the Net at Youtube who also were Bethelites. They met in New York while serving there yet the years that they courted were over shadowed by a prohibition against marriage. Their testimony spoke of a time when the Witnesses were actually forbidden to marry. I brought this up with my two guests and of course, they denied it being true. So, all that background being said, I'd like to ask anyone here if they can provide accurate information on this page in the history of the Witnesses and perhaps even some solid internet sources I can draw from to show my guests this latest twist in the history books is indeed true and not, as they are so fond of saying, a lie of the apostates. Please help any way you feel moved to. My whole goal is to help this lovely couple leave the sect that has them so lost they have given up all hope of ever seeing Heaven! God bless. Ginnyfree.
