I like this cover version by Celine Deon.

Sorry jackie but I tend to hate cover versions. I absolutely despise what Amy Winehouse did to what I consider to be a far superior version by The Zutons. Just my opinion by the way. "When did I realize I was God? Well, I was praying and I suddenly realized I was talking to myself."

I agree some cover versions are really bad and I hate groups like West life that repeatably do cover versions all the time 32 I think in total.

Some covers are awesome. Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower or Hey Joe. What about Guns N' Roses Knocking on HEavens Door? Even if you don't like
that one Clapton's cover is great and I like the original too. There are some lousy covers but some bands do them well. I mean I absolutely love Faith No
Mores Cover of Easy. Sheryl Crow covering Sweet Child of Mine meh not so good.

Tetsuo I did say most not all.
You have mentioned a few that I would consider acceptable, good, very good or even brilliant. What I cant stand is these pop star wannabee's trashing what were mediocre pop songs at best "When did I realize I was God? Well, I was praying and I suddenly realized I was talking to myself."

Indeed Shane. What about Turn The Page, I like that cover I think. Not sure. I know I love the Metallica cover of Breadfan!

I presume you mean the Metallica cover of Turn The Page. I'm not sure. you see I love Metallica but I'm not sure if this version works.
They also covered Whiskey In The Jar by Thin Lizzy. Unfortunately I have to say the original is miles better in my humble opinion. I still have Metallica in my top 5 bands saying that "When did I realize I was God? Well, I was praying and I suddenly realized I was talking to myself."

Whiskey I agree blows, The metallica version of Turn the Page ads a little more dynamics than the Seager version a little more anger and sadness where as Bob
did it with a little more desperation and anguish. I like both mind you but I am just thinking of Covers I like!

I love Marilyn Manson's covers- Personal Jesus, Tainted Love, Sweet Dreams (are made of these)....I think there's more but cant think of them off the top of my head. I like those first two better than the originals, Sweet Dreams I would say is as good as but certainly not better than the Annie Lennox version. And speaking of covers, there's another thread on here where someone mentioned Johnny Cash's cover of NIN's Hurt. Also an excellent cover.

OK, covers suck. Period. With very few exceptions (Johnny Cash singing 'Hurt' is one).

I love Johnnys version of Hurt. You can feel the emotion of the words as he sings. Cracking video as well

For me I like the NIN version better but it doesn't mean Cash's isn't also awesome. Kinda like Little Wing I love Jimi's but SRV's is also
amazing.
