Hi Myqueen image

love the name btw :-)

I am so sorry that your friend let you down so badly - but as you will see from reading many of the stories here, unfortunately in the JW religion all friendships are conditional - on you being a JW basically image

You were right in your assumption that she was slightly unusual, in that she appeared to be happy to be your friend, and yet leave you the right to live your life as you wish - however..............

As you can now see, that only lasts so long - once she knew that you were not going to become embroiled in the religion - she had no choice really but to 'fade' the friendship!!

Believe it or not, she may feel as bereft as you do about losing your friendship - but with the JW's the rules are hard and fast - she may even have been warned by them that to keep up the friendship was 'frowned upon' by the cong - in other words warned off!!!

I do hope that you find happiness in your new relationship - but I understand your fears about her upbringing - many of us here (myself included) were out of the religion for many years, yet still felt the need to 'stand up for them' - and were confused regarding many of the things we had been raised to believe (for that read brainwashed!)

It can only be a good thing for your chance of a future together, that you are so aware of this religion, and the negative feelings it leaves in the minds of those who leave...........as others have said, feel free to ask or just rant away about any potential problems that arise..........who knows - in time she may be able to visit this board, and let her true feelings out herself image

She is lucky to have such a caring partner!!

Glad you are here - please let us know how everything is going

Love and hugs xxx
