image g'day and welcome to our new members ... Heidi ... Butterfly and Superpunk. Glad to have you with us

Heidi ... sounds to me like you've already got a fairly good support network ... especially given that your sister is already close by. I'm one of those people who just got up and walked out one day. Not being baptised I didn't have the df'g crap to worry about and I wasn't da'd either. I still had my fair share of shunning on and off ... lost my JW family for a few months but almost 30 years later we're all still chitty chatty and out of five siblings ... only one keeps faithful to his religion like my parents. You get that though!

There are many stories in here for you to read ... which may help you make your decision one way or the other. I'm not personally in favour of sending off letters ... only because it seems to stir up more trouble than it's worth and it also gives credence to the religion that I don't think the religion deserves.

Just keep in mind that it's only a religion. It's not the law ... you don't owe the organisation an explanation if you don't want to give them one ... you don't have to feel guilty or ashamed for wanting a life of personal freedom for yourself or for your kids. Be yourself ... do what's right for you and the little ones ... and remember there's more to life than religion!

... it is what you do with what happens to you."
