I've been fading since last summer, and I have 3 kids. At first, I kept everything to myself, avoided any 'friends' if we saw them at the grocery - and told my kids to do the same. Now, I just don't give a shit. LOL.

I explained to my kids WHY we don't go to meetings anymore, and I've told them that we are going to live life like we want to from now on - holidays, playing sports, going to sleep-overs, etc.

However, I don't have much family. My sister has shunned me for about 3 yrs now anyway, so screw her. My dad is deceased, and my mom has said she will speak to me/associate with me no matter what. (shocker!) My only weak spot is my brother - he lives in another state and doesnt' really know my situation. He just thinks I'm "inactive." (he is too, but hasn't let go of the beliefs) I'm still not sure what or how I will tell him.

I applaud your decision, and I understand your hesitation at your kids going to meetings with your parents. It is likely that they WILL hear something that will scare them or confuse them. Good luck with that. Please keep us posted.

Superpunk - excellent analogy about the oncoming train/train tracks. Very well put.
