Wow, that made me think!

I think alot of the appeal for people to believe what JW's say is just from being jaded from other religions and wanting something to believe in. Since the beginning of time, mankind has been yearning for an afterlife, going to great lengths to protect religious interests, and waging 'holy wars' in the name of god. All this leads your average person to strive for the same sense of belonging, and of wanting so hard to believe that there is something beyond this life. The afterlife in any form (paradise earth, planetary travel, heaven vs. hell) cause so many of the duped masses to waste massive amounts of time just striving after something that may or may not happen.

Think about your 'average' JW. 2.5 hours a week in service, 5 hours a week in meetings, and maybe an hour or two a week preparing for those meetings, getting ready, commuting to the KH. add a special assembly day, 3 DC days, and a curcuit assembly, and you're sitting at almost 550 hours a year! That is a HUGE amount of brainwashing. I wouldn't beat yourself up for believing in what JW's had to say, and i imagine you justified some of the horseshit by thinking about how most JW's are pretty good people, they don't steal etc. And you are clearly a rational intelligent person. YOU GOT OUT!
