But, why do the borg ignore the horror stories
I think they ignore horror stories for a couple reasons. One is that they as a group show more devotion to keeping the group together as a whole than anything else. Ray Franz was one of the former governing body members who did see through the falseness of the jw's and decided to face disfellowshipping and leave the jw's to persue his own path that was 'true to himself' oustide the Witnesses rather than stay in the false organization. Ray does have two books that explain most of the very issues you mention and they are here on our Links and Resources Page.

The other reason the jw's ignore the horror stories is due to no fault of their own making really. They are victims of the control tactics of the group. The members of the congregation unfortunately don't always look with a critical eye at what they are being taught to believe. The policies have changed so many times with the Witnesses-----yet they will never question anything. That is why terrible things like shunning occur and many here have been victims past and present of it.

The Tell Your JW Story Board here is very eye-opening and some stories are very tough, yet people are now making a new life for themselves----one day at a time----and being generally happy. Not everyday is great, but most days are pretty good.

but I have lost a great deal
I lost pretty much everything myself quite a few years ago, but have slowly but surely been working to gain it back. I can assure you it is possible to regain things back in a decent measure.
The Story Board would keep you busy with similiar stories that have happy endings.

I mean outsiders with power to do something, but it could go in my favour, or even against me...its going to be a gamble.. and I am willing to stake my life on it, just to get someone in power to listen...
Staking your life on the jw's isn't going to solve anything.
We here as a group try to help one another and promote the 'real truth' about the jw's.
Supporting one another and spreading the cause and 'real truth' is the best route imo.

A psychiatrist would only tell me what i already know..that it was a mind controlling cult. I have a friend, did have, she left the borg, very successful woman now, we loved each other, but she has finished threapy, but still needs medication to get over her experiance....she had no childhood. I know a bethel br that tried to committ suicide, he wanted out of the borg, that was his way of trying to get out.......so, its not new, there are brs that have done it, or tried. But, the borg always comes out on top.

The past is something that is not good to dwell on for too long I've found. I know that is sometimes easier said than done, but all we have is the present and here & now...

The borg make you feel guilty
yes, guilt is about their #1 control tactic unfortunately.
They will try to make a person feel guilty about anything and everything if we let them.
I learned not to let them.
Guilt generally is an unhealthy emotion about 95 percent of the time, so even though it takes some time, I try to not get stuck in a guilt setting for too long. It gets easier once a person realizes the obvious tactics that they use.

I've just touched on a few issues here Anakin, but realize you aren't alone here by any means..... I will post a couple links for refererence in just a moment.....
