SwingLifeAway - I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that the others here are correct.....the elder DO NOT and WILL NOT inform the congregation if a pedophile is in their midst. Personally, I have had a few experiences with pedophiles in my own congregation. In both instances, the elders did not inform the congregation. It was through my own father (an elder at the time) that I was privately warned to keep an eye on my two little ones. And in the other hall, we only learned about it once it hit the evening news. I have also seen an elder be accused of molesting children in my own congregation just last year, be sentenced to prison and still NOT get DF'd for it. However the parents that reported him to the police were in fact DF'd for bringing reproach upon Jehovah's name. This elder fell under the whole shitty "2 witness rule" they have. The elders only report an accusation of child molestation if the state they live in requires it by law. That's a fact. But even then, they are told by the society themselves, to try and avoid doing even that at all costs. The society does not answer to worldly governments and their laws. Don't forget that.

User "Sad" - Your father is grossly missinformed. Under "Megan's Law" all registered sex offenders are posted online along with their general location and a photo of them. If you were to study the patterns and behaviors along with the personalities that accompany a pedophile, you would learn that they do not and cannot change. They are predisposed to that urge and it's nearly impossible to claim that someone could change and never do it again. In fact, they run a very HIGH likely-hood that they will molest again in the future. That's a fact my dear. A person that has molested children should be exposed in the efforts of protecting other children. The pedophile should also view that as a protection for them as well. Having people keep their children away from them will help them in turn keep themselves from being put in a place of temptation where they may offend again.
