I'm with The other responder.  You don't have to make an announcement.  Matter of fact, it is going to be easier for eveyone if you don't.  Drift away, would be my best advice.  My father was an elder, I pioneered for three years and had two bad marriages before I came to the oint where you are now.  If you don't make any announcement, you can still talk with everyone.  Again, it is the rules of the institution you plan to leave that want an announcement.  But that would hurt your relationships with the people you love.  Just stop going to meetings, join a club- like beach volleyball or something to help you meet new people.  Changing your cell number is a good idea too.  Who really would you hurt by just slipping quietly into inactivity?  Think about wether or not any regular Joe would have to make an announcement before leaving a church.  you are not leaving God, and He is the only one you need worry about
