Why does religion seem to thrive? My personal feeling is that religion of all kinds will continue to thrive because men like to control other men.

Religion via religious men continue to feed what I believe is a myth that there is definitely a higher being ... a god or gods. To me there is no proof that there is a god ... to religious people there is no proof that there isn't a god. Catch 22 for those on opposite ends of the scale.

Religion via religious men want us to believe we MUST have a purpose in life. If that purpose doesn't involve religion of some kind ... we're immediately labelled as being godless creatures who have no morals, who feed off the misery of others as we walk about aimlessly in life being aggressive and unkind to those who do follow religion.

While men continue to enjoy and reap the benefits of controlling others via religion ... the religions of this world will continue to thrive. While religions thrive ... there will always be zealous christians who will oppose anyone who doesn't think or live the same way they do. These zealots will jump on anyone who dares to admit they they no longer believe or never have believed in religion, or a god or any other gods ... for the christians will always be right. They have a REAL purpose in life and they believe the myths taught to them via religious men. The zealots are the ones who will defend their religion regardless of how narrow-minded they may seem to those looking in from the outside. They are the ones who will jump on someone for not putting a capital C in front of christian ... or not typing the word bible with a capital B.

I'm glad my kids won't be raised with such a narrow slant on real life
