I dont know what to call myself, I hate arguing from the traditional "Atheist" position, because I look at everything through a lense of probability.

I figure the odds of being created via intelligent design are mathematically the same as the odds of spontaneous abiogenesis. They are statistically the same because we have no set starting point and no eye witness account. If something put us here, their journal didnt happen to fall out of their back pocket with design mockups or an overall 'plan' and by all tangible evidence, they are not hanging around anymore.

I wouldnt call Atheism a 'belief' system or a 'nonbelief' system as more a general perspective of skepticism. Good Atheists will apply the same level of skepticism to all things, including themselves. The only tangible evidence I have found so far in the existence of the traditional Judeo-Christian God is the Bible, a collection of written eyewitness accounts of other men. I have a hard time bringing myself to a state of mind where I could accept that a supreme being who wanted to be worshiped would use other humans to create the only surviving record of his existence. One of the first things the book establishes is you can't trust your fellow man, so why trust him on what he says about God? Because he was around 2000 years ago and thats how god worked then? If he worked that way then, why doesnt he work that way now? Why hasnt Vegas been zapped like S&G? If he outwardly selected his "people" in the hebrew scriptures, why doesnt he do the same with his 'true' christian religion in the same way?

The doubt really started for me when I started to learn about things like how archeologists perform dating. There are about 18 different types of scientifically accepted dating techniques including C-14. We know that the accuracy of the Genesis account is EXTREMELY UNLIKELY given the multiple datings of ancestral sapiens and how far and varied they've found those digs from the traditional Eden spot Somewhere in Mesopotamia, between the Tigris and the Euphrates (or Somewhere in Missouri if you are Mormon ^_^ )... If Genesis very likely gets the creation of humanity wrong, why have the need for a bible at all? No need for Jesus without the need for a ransom sacrifice and "original sin".

Theists are easy for Atheists to attack because they usually hold a specific set of beliefs about a God or Gods. Atheists are much more difficult to attack as a group because we only have ONE thing in common, a rejection of any Gods as put forth by men. I believe in the possibility of an existence of a 'God', I feel its a genuine possibility God exists, but if he is real, I dont think mankind knows the first thing about him/her/it. The only evidence we have is what was created, if we were in fact created...we can look at his track record. Appreciates Beauty. Has a sense of humor, but maybe is imperfect as well? Afterall, everything he made eventually dies.
