How sad that people should be ashamed of how a family member dies regardless of religious fears Little ... must have been very difficult for them and still would be. It would be hard to grieve for the loss of someone who they were embarrassed about.

You may well be right that the children of this person may have their viewpoints swayed by what happened to their parent. You'd really hope they wouldn't use a time like this to emotionally blackmail young people into towing the religious party line ... but none of us are naive when it comes to what the JWs are capable of. The secretive nature of the person's death would lead to speculation. I remember when I walked out of the religion myself ... purely for no longer believing in it (how dare I) ... there were numerous rumours floating around about me having committed one sin or another. Given the person has died ... I've no qualms in saying there'd be more than one unfavourable rumour being bandied about ... they cannot speak for themselves ... makes them an easy target.

I feel for the children ... poor little lambs.
