I have spent the last couple of days reading papers and books by atheists. To be honest, even atheist don't define what being an atheist is. They will gladly tell you what it isn't, but not what it is, and even there the atheists don't agree what atheism isn't and get more than a little tetchy about it when anyone tries to pin them down about their beliefs.

I guess I will just have to throw out any definition of atheism because from what everyone is telling me, all the definitions are wrong. So what we are left with, in my opinion, is a group of people who refuse to accept any definition, much less say what they actually believe or don't believe in an effort to avoid any actual scrutiny of said belief. So from my point of view, all I am doing is wasting my time and yours.

Special Side Note:

se7en, I am not a Gnostic Theist. I am a Roman Catholic Theist. Gnosticism is the beliefs and practices of pre-Christian and early Christian sects, where the conviction that matter is evil and that knowledge is more important than faith.

If you want to know that a Roman Catholic believes, all one as to do is read the Nicean Creed.

I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate
of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
And one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
