ok I cannot leave this thread alone, ah well.

As for having to defend atheism.... why the hell should this be the cause.

dbat you are 100% correct I couldn't agree more! Which is why I don't like this thread. When they claim they have the knowledge to negate your non belief, and aren't forthcoming with the evidence why debate? Unless they are honestly wishing to understand my point of view, then let's debate the evidence, not my lack of belief in the claim. It's side stepping the issue at hand. I think this forum is a great place for people to find support escaping the org, or to find people who can relate to the experience. That is it's main goal anyway. If someone wants to honestly learn why I disbelieve then fine. If you want to play the semantics game then all I can say is show me the evidence of your claim and I'll show you my non belief. I thought it was an honest misunderstanding of what belief and non belief is. It is a common fallacy for people of faith to unknowingly project their faith and belief onto my lack of faith and lack of belief. I understand how this happens. But to have them not acknowledge you even made a single point is UGH!!!!! But that's ok. So be it.

se7en, I am not a Gnostic Theist. I am a Roman Catholic Theist. Gnosticism is the beliefs and practices of pre-Christian and early Christian sects, where the conviction that matter is evil and that knowledge is more important than faith.

Definition. Gnostic: 1. gnostic Of, relating to spiritual knowledge.
You believe, (theist), and you claim spiritual knowledge.(gnostic) Your list proves this is true. You also claim certainty that there is a God.

Theist Gnostic better? (No Sarcasm intended.)

There is very little point arguing with prejudiced people. They won't change their minds, they won't be reasonable, courteous, or whatever. The only point that I can see is to get them talking enough so that their prejudice is exposed for all to see.

Couldn't say it better.
