I would say they are mid range chauvinistic.

i.e. while they do not relegate women to the position that conservative sects like the amish do, there will certainly not be any female elders anytime soon.

There is plenty in the literature about women keeping in subjection, they like Paul's writings. It's stressed that in family matters, always to remember that the husband is the head of the household, etc - often along with testimony from women about what a "loving provision" the "headship arrangement" is.

This policy is ripe for abuse, even though that is not encouraged. But I know plenty of women who lived with oppressive JW men who took their God-ordained headship mantle WAY too seriously.
