Hi Jahfirst,

I believe members of the governing body, although not excused of responsibility, are likely deluded as much as members. While, like members, they might sense something is amiss, it is easier to actively disregard this feelings and avoid investigation but instead drink their own kool-aid. When a critic might bring up something that disturbs all it takes for a governing body member to feel comfortable is for Fred Franz to do some research and come up with some plausible sounding response. Ah! No need to feel there is an issue, Fred has spoken! Of course Fred is self-deluded and likely enjoys being the "oracle".

When Fred Franz died to whom was the torch passed? That is a good question. Perhaps someone with recent connections to Bethel who has left could be able to tell us. But I think it is extremely likely one, at most two individuals, enjoy the position of "oracle" and what they say is taken as the final word.

Cheers,
-Randy
