good post peggy...

Even though I was a 3rd generation jw on my dad's side, my mom was not born into the jw's and only got baptised after her and my dad were married for quite a few years.

The thing for her holding back from doing the dedication and baptism was the blood issue.  She said if one of her kids required blood to stay alive, then she wouldn't be able to follow the society's rules with the no blood policy.

She eventually did get baptised, but only after hearing that the blood substitutes had come out and were available.

But, it was an issue that was really important, especially having a family...

All of the confusion, the changes, and the misapplication of the blood policy by the jw's over the years is pretty disturbing for the average person I would imagine.  Not to mention the needless deaths....
