There's tons of information on the Web about being a great salesman --- not a huckster or slimy-used-car-salesman stereotype, but someone who helps customers get what they want/need.

If you're going to spend more than a few months in this job, then it will be worth your time to study the art and craft of selling, and learn the abstract principles in addition to the product knowledge necessary to sell COMCAST packages. That way you can sell other stuff if this job doesn't pan out, and if you seem to like sales in general.

Myself, I respond best to the feature-benefit sell. If the product has the features I want, and the benefits are explained in a rational way, then that's usually a deal.

If you're in person, then grooming counts. If you're over-the-phone, then your voice counts.

I spent several months in sales when I was younger, and although it was not the "career choice" for me long-term, I enjoyed learning the craft. Now when a salesperson uses the A/B Close Technique, I get to chuckle.

Cheers.
