I

have been out for a little while..So when I see posts about "cute young elders" it honestly didn't compute.
While I was in. All Elders I ever came in contact with were "mid life crisis" age, married. Or else their wife had passed and they get around with a cane and oxygen tank.

Raine......from what I've read here on these boards is that congregations vary greatly from place to place.  I remember when I was a new young mother way back 33 years ago and the congregation I was in had 3 annointed ones and the vast majority of the whole place were grey heads row after row.  Needless to say, they wanted me to keep my little whipper snapper quiet as the grave.  We moved across town and lo and behold, there were young elders and new parents at that and all was much better on the keep the whipper snapper quiet front.  I think there is a new generation sitting in the halls these days and some of them have 'reached out' and are in various positions within the congregations.

Second while reading that. Maybe it's just me..But all I could picture was the Titanic. "FULL STEAM AHEAD BOYS"
despite being in iceberg territory.
I honestly worry about the people who gave over themselves heart mind and soul, and what's going to happen to them.
A lot will be confused and frightened at best.
I agree.

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.
