Personally (I was born in 1982, so I "arrived at reading age" in the 90s... at least I think I did?)  smiley: wink

Ok so personally -- the UN thing is not that big a deal to me.  I mean, if I were running for like "JW Apostate President," it's not what I would base my platform on.  My platform for leaving is disfellowshipping.  And I wonder if people of my generation and younger won't find that to be a bigger "stumbling block" as more and more young people are DF'd for a variety of asinine reasons.

However, I did grow up with the whole "You can't join the YMCA" rule and "Don't give to charities" rule.  I do notice now that it's only been in the last few years that the rules have changed from "no blood at all" to "ok you can have fractions of blood," but even that wasn't enough to jar me awake.  I think I've been more disgusted about seeing JWs as a publishing corporation and we as free marketing labor than looking at their membership with the UN.  This whole thing about what's going on in Menlo Park, CA has me ready to vomit.  Along those same lines, my mother-in-law is convinced the brothers are moving out of Brooklyn because they know "something secret" about Armageddon coming and they're making their preparations, not just that they're sitting on million-dollar property and they want to cash in.

So that's some of my perspective, not that the UN thing isn't bad, but just that it doesn't keep me awake at night.  But I'm sure other people on here, even my age and younger, may have different perspectives to offer.
