ANZAC Day here in Australia folks ......... a day when those who care (and the number is growing), stop and remember the massive sacrifice so many of our now long gone Australian and New Zealand troops gave for our countries during World War I. It's a day when there are dawn remembrance services held around the country and in Turkey at Gallipoli ...... and a day when we also remember the sacrifices made by soldiers, sailors and airforce personnel the world over.

Quite a gut wrenching time in history. So much loss of life mixed with some remarkable experiences bundled into one. The stories from the Turks looking down from the cliff tops and remarking on the soldiers knowing their fate but forced to push forward anyway. The cease fires where soldiers came down from the cliffs to exchange such things as cigarettes with the enemies , see each other face to face and almost a unified distaste for what they would have to return to after the cease fire. The terror of arriving on the wrong beach and what casualties that went onto cause. The inception of the ANZAC bikkie. Indeed it is hard to retain a dry eye when you see them march on ANZAC day.

I have seen some of the black and white footage coloured and the experience is changed so much by that technical adjustment.
