It's great to hear stories of people who got out even without the benefit of the internet.  I don't know how long it would have taken me to realize what I was a part of without it.  I've seen a few kids go back to the organization once they've had their fun, because they knew nothing else and then something bad happened to them.  And since a condition of getting help from family would be going back to meetings, they relented.

I think that is because they leave because they don't want to follow rules, but they haven't really done any thinking about what they believe.  And the internet is huge for helping fix that problem.  But again, it's great when people (young and older) make that connection...doesn't matter how it happens, as long as it does.

“This I believe: That the free, exploring mind of the individual human is the most valuable thing in the world. And this I would fight for: the freedom of the mind to take any direction it wishes, undirected. And this I must fight against: any idea, religion, or government which limits or destroys the individual.”

-John Steinbeck
