dude, I think the problem that a lot of posters see is that overall, where has this religion led people? To me, it is a serious claim to say that "we" are the only channel of truth to the nations, and anyone not associated with us will die at Armageddon.  Of course, those are not the exact words used by the Society, but there are enough words used by them to imply, hint at, and lead one to believe that that is the case.
I find it a bit ironic you would object so vehemently to that as your current religion does the exact same thing...
but this isnt the place for that type of debate so I wont address that any more here.

Sugar, see you did take somethings away from it. You are wiser now than before, wouldnt you agree? Im not doing this to say the jw's are a good org, my opinion as many know is far from that. My objective here is to help people move on, and seeing the positives in a negative situation is a good start. Ill give you a personal example, I had a very unsavory (to put it lightly) break up with an ex gf I had for 3 years. At the time I started doing stupid stuff, and nearly died a few times as a consequence. I was completely torn apart, couldnt trust anyone and was devastated. For a decent time afterwards I thought the phrase "better to have love and lost than to have not loved at all" was completely stupid and I saw absolutely nothing positive from the experience. As I moved on I have learned that much was learned from such a sore break up and that the difficult experience really shaped me quite a bit. I believe it was Marcel Proust who said it is the bad times in our lives that we truly learn the most and shape our personalities. Good times are fun and dandy but its time wasted, you learned nothing. While I dont completely subscribe to an extreme interpretation of this it does have merit.

Also it is nice to show possible lurking JW's that we can look at things in a not as biased way as the jw's do. They only speak negatives about apostates, and I refuse to do the same
