But you can't look at anything black and white, that is the most valuable thing I have learned from my exit of Jehovah's Witnesses.

O sure, I've heard all about how there are grey areas in life.  But take Sugar's signature, for example. Here we have nice and big white letters, Shunned, up against a black background.  The meaning, and all that it connotes, could not be any clearer.

Why try to milk it like it was ever a good thing?

I tend to agree with this.  Milking it would be equivalent to a JW trying to milk something good out of Christendom.  I mean, don't they view Christendom as apostate and a major part of false religion?  That seemed to be Russel's view of the matter:

Evidently the people of the
United States are performing
a service of inestimable value
to the whole world in receiving their
scum of ignorance and their dregs
of degradation--both due more to
evils of the past than to those of
the present, and chiefly chargeable to
priestcraft, superstition and ignorance fostered
for centuries by that old "Mother of Harlots,"
which falsely claims to be the Church-system
founded by our Lord and his apostles.

Well, he certainly let people know how he felt about the Church-system.
