People act in their self-interest within the restrictions imposed upon them by their situation. The act reinforces the belief that it is in their self-interest. An outsider can point out that the restrictions imposed upon them aren't in their self-interest, but due to all that reinforcement, the outsider's point feels like a threat to their self-interest.

^ That.  And also remember it's purely an emotional thing.  People don't think 'oh, this will be in my best interest'.  Any threat to their belief systems is seen as emotionally painful and therefore untrue.

Personally, I have greater sucess opening the eyes of those who have never been a JDub,

I recon if we educate the 'worldly' people about the evil of the WTB$ there will be no 'growth' for the GB to leech off, apart from those 'born ins'.

Kind of putting out the fire from the edges.

^ That too.  Helping others on the forum and just educating society in general about the dangers of high control groups is a big help.  I think most people view jws as odd or quaint, but they don't realize how truly dangerous there are.  There's plenty of antireligion activist groups out there, sharing your story with them would help the cause.

The other thing I would add is do some research into psychology/neurology.  If there's a cure for religion to be found, that would be where to find it.  People may be too brainwashed to listen to reason, but that doesn't mean it's their fault (entirely).  Just because there's no answer yet doesn't mean an answer can't be found.
