I can think of a few positives, and this is a great thread idea. Too often we focus on the negative.

One big advantage is the public speaking ability. I gave talks so many times I lost count. I'm never nervous speaking in front of people, which has helped me in my teaching work. I can give presentations to teachers, staff, students, basically anybody and any size group and I feel comfortable.

Most people are terrified shitless of speaking to a group and I can hop up and spontaneously produce a speech that people actually want to listen to.

And probably another advantage could just be the fact that we have dealt with a lot of adversity which can toughen you up and teach you a few things.
