Hi Jude,
In your initial salvo in opening this interesting topic SIMILARITIES ..., there were four points you mentioned:
1. that Catholics worship the pope. This has been clarified by Irishane and I will not add to that.
2. that the Catholic Church teaches that only in the Catholic Church is there salvation. Comment: While it is true that we believe that "Outside the Church there is no salvation", the Church qualifies that those who follow their conscience as formed by their respective denomination, be they Protestant, JW, Mormon or even Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist etc. are virtual members of the body of Christ which is officially embodied by the Church founded by Christ (which we believe to be the Catholic Church) therefore they are part of the salvation mercifully earned by Jesus. Thus we believe that Moses, Elijah and the other just men and women of old are saved, although they were of course not Catholics.
I will give additional comments for the other points next time.
