This is just...wow.  I wish we could find out how the boy is doing.

I am all for the advancement of bloodless surgeries, or at least how to use the least amount of blood during surgery but I'll take my chances spending eternity in hell if I or a loved one has some kind of accident that requires blood.  I and/or loved one will get the blood transfusion.

I heard a story a few years ago that a single JW father had a 16 year old daughter who got knocked up and was giving birth and needed a blood transfusion to save both her life and the unborn baby's life.  The hospital Chaplin, thankfully knocked some sense into him by saying God wouldn't want both of them to die.  The guy, the daughter and his new grand baby were all shunned by the local JW community for allowing the whole blood transfusion thing and they eventually moved and became active with a Unitarian Church.
