That really is a double whammy. It's difficult when you yourself know that you have a lot to offer, but people don't seem to what to give you a chance because they're to shallow or too busy to see what you can give. 

My only saving grace at work is that I've had decent relationships with my bosses.  So while I may be silent during a staff meeting or *shudder* brainstorming session, I will take notes and think it over and later on go mention any ideas I may have one-on-one.  That's helped kind...now I just need to work on it in my personal life, and see if I can develop some actual "real life" friends.
