Quote:

" I know that if she ever did leave the religion I would not turn my back on her even considering the hurt I have felt because of her treatment of me..."

So.....be she in or out of the J.W faith....you love her....whichever way you slice it..

[I know you well enough for that to exist as a simple statement, rather than a question..]

What was that scripture we once all used to ponder on occasion?

4Love is patient, love is kind... is not jealous; love does not brag...is not arrogant, 5..does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

When it comes to 'love' as it pertains to many of those ensconced in the J.W mindset....it could well be argued that...

Quote:

"..they really don't get it."

So if any appeal is to be made to our family members in terms of acknowledging our own post-J.W success, let that appeal be evidenced plainly and unswervingly in the language of love.

As other posters have already stated, many J.W's adopt an air of negative expectancy when it comes to renegade family members who leave the cloister.

How one conducts oneself with J.W family members will either reinforce their negative expectancy, or it will expose it as being totally ill-founded.....and it can often take years before the evidence [either-way] is accumulated.

That is to say that....J.W's who leave the cloister are often [unfairly] viewed as 'guilty' until proven 'innocent.'

Viewed in this light, it's just as well that you have many [non-J.W] friends who are more than happy to testify that:

  • Sharon is patient.
  • Sharon is kind.
  • Sharon is not jealous.
  • Sharon does not brag.
  • Sharon is not arrogant.
  • Sharon does not act unbecomingly.
  • Sharon does not seek her own interest.
  • Sharon is not easily provoked.
  • Sharon does not take into account a wrong suffered.
  • Sharon bears all things.
  • Sharon believes all things.
  • Sharon hopes all things.
  • Sharon endures all things.
