yes he did get his arse kicked...from the local police x which kind of makes me laugh lol
Right on. Good for you, Deano.
smiley: happy It makes me smile whenever some little jerk with a little bit of power gets told where to stick their perceived power.

The laws concerning who, what, when and where a recording device can be used is specific to country.

Here in Canada, as some have already pointed out, it is lawful to record a telephone conversation that you are having with someone else without their knowledge.
And, that same recording is admissible in a court of law as evidence.

I know because I have done it. I recorded a telephone conversation I had with someone and they didn't know I was doing it. And then, I charged the person who phoned me. And used the recorded telephone conversation as evidence in court. And they were found guilty of uttering threats against me. The recorded telephone conversation was legal in spite of the other person not knowing I was recording them.

What is not legal is to make a recording of someone's telephone conversation with another person, if that person is not you. In other words, if you were trying to collect evidence against your spouse, for example, to be used in a court action, you are not allowed to put a recording device on the phone without your spouse's knowledge to gain knowledge as to who she/he phones, and what is said on that phone call. That is against the law. Big no-no.

As a head's up, it would not surprise me if every phone conversation that elders have with potential 'troublemakers' or about 'sticky' issues, is recorded. Beware! When you phone and talk to elders...they will record the phone call!

For example, a few years back, I was in the position to give witness (that stupid f**ing two witness rule that is part of the JW legalese bullshit) and phoned and talked to an elder in the congregation of the person that I was giving testimony for. When I phoned the elder, the minute he realized who he was talking to, he asked me to hold on while he switched to a land line. I believe that he recorded our phone call. At the time, I thought he was just avoiding the possibility of his mobile handset being picked up by a scanner but, it was more than likely that he had a recording device on his land line.

I hope he did record the conversation and that the other elders heard what I had to say. smiley: happy  hehee. I would hate to think that my conversation was wasted just on that one elder!!!
Lol! I did make threats that I was going to take them to court....especially if anything ever became public that I had given testimony or if the person I was giving witness against found out that it was me. Lol! I wanted to scare him but I was also serious. I didn't like the guy I was giving witness against and besides, I lied in my testimony. Intentionally. smiley: tongue

Welcome to the board, Deano. smiley: smile
