Yeah happened here too. My aunt and uncle were masters at government handouts and were constantly advising my parents on what they would be "entitled" to.

I also knew a lady that fulltime pioneered on the dole. She would go to shops and witness, make placements and count that as FS time and RVs and at the end of each conversation casually ask if there was any part time work available. So she could write that down as a "job interview" to receive the dole. She also used to come in to my work and ask for free food. And if we were going in her car for FS she would ask everyone for $10 before we even got in the car. But if it was my car, petrol was my responsibility as well as morning tea and lunch. Because apparently having a fulltime job meant I could afford to support everyone else.

There was always a few people in each cong I've been in that would have advice on how to get benefits, things for free or really cheaply. Usually lying and being underhanded was par for the course.
