It has everything to do with the serious shortage of qualified brothers who can (or who are willing to) be used. I have been involved in the organization for 40 yrs and I have never seen the level of apathy and disillusionment among those serving in some capacity in this organization.

I haven't seen this too much in the Hall I was just in, however I know it is a growing problem. I have a friend who was recently asked to be a servant. He turned it down! He mentioned to me that his cong. only has one servant, and the guy won't do a damn thing.

I asked why he turned down his appointment. One part is that he just got married about two years ago and they are having some serious problems (he almost kicked her out last week). The second was a problems I have seen a lot. He has been in his cong. for three years and the brothers never gave him a single responsibility. His hours were 20 to 30 a month and he participated in the meetings. Then in September he started pioneering. Almost immediately they gave him responsibilities and started talking about him becoming an M.S.. He just thought it was so hypocritical and shallow.

He's going to be the one I really miss when it becomes clearer to him where I am heading.
