"So no one can tell me people cant just tap into there strength and if they cant they really need more help then AA or NA can provide"

Ahhh...spoken like a true non-addict, Amanda.image

And, that is what the AA and NA programs provide - an avenue for people to find that 'help' that goes beyond the program itself. Now, the question that each person is faced with when they are seeking help for their addiction is: what or who or where constitutes 'help'? For addicts and alcoholics, that 'help' can come in different forms. AA and NA aren't for everybody, but the programs have saved a lot of lives.

Is AA and NA a crutch? You bet it is. And, what is wrong with that? If you had a broken leg, you wouldn't refuse the help of a cane. And, I may add, a bystander probably wouldn't tell the person with the broken leg to just get up and walk on their own or go and crawl around until they found a way to walk again.

The bottom line when it comes to recovery from addictions is to do whatever works. Period.
