these idiots out before they do anymore damage to the bloody economy.
I would encourage everyong to swamp Obama with demands for Sec. of Treasury Geithner to resign.
Pelosi is too busy to actually be Speaker of the House, but is quick to blame everyone but her leadership or lack thereof, Barney Frank (is it just me or does
Barney Frank sound like Sylvester the Cat) just for being a bombastic ass and for over a year saying FreddiMac & FanniMae were structurally sound and then
blasting everyone when both of them tanked. Chris Dodd for not paying attention to the bill he wrote and sponsered, and Harry Reid for just being an offensive
ass towards Edward Liddy (AIG's current CEO) for something that he [Liddy] han no control over. What many of the media outlets save for CSPAN and FOX
failed to show was Liddy's statement that he had been in discussion with the Dept of Treasury for 3 month about these contractual bonuses and the risk of
lawsuits which would have further hurt AIG.
The part that really pisses me off is the fact isn't the 165-170 million in bonuses paid to AIG financial execs. Does anyone know that Merrill Lynch who
has recieved billions of tax payers dollars, their executives got bonuses? But then, Merrill Lynch gave money to Pres. Obama's campaigns, and we
mustn't insult His Coolness.
These bailouts were ill concieved, poorly executed and the Democrats used these bailouts for the single largest Tax & Spend spree in the history of the
United States.
AND I AM MAD AS HELL ABOUT IT.

I live in another California's 22nd District our Representative is The Honorable Kevin McCarthy (R-CA22), who is the Deputy Minority Whip.
The other problem is, I just moved to California and I will definitely gonna be working on voting the rascals out. I and beginning to believe that there needs to be a Constitutional Amendment for Term limits, we are getting some real dipsticks in the Legislative branch.

Both Pelosi and Reid were dismally ineffective while in the minority, and I don't see them getting much better as leaders of a majority. I hear Reid was
better some years ago, people are generously attributing his incompetence to his age.
Quite a few on the left are calling for primary challenges to both, to replace them with people who have actual spines. Or balls, metaphorically speaking. As for whatever goes on in Congress, I think most people understand that it's now mostly for entertainment, that actual legislating, deal-making, whatever, is all done in back rooms away from the meddling public. Theater, free publicity if they manage to get themselves on the TeeVee. Or storing up clips of themselves for their next re-election campaign.

I finally watched the Jay Leno/Obama thing and was refreshed to at least hear a man who could converse and sounded rather human right down to his
"Special Olympics" fopah. Kind of reminded me of an updated version of the 'fireside chats' of FDR and hell, I think FDR did some damn good
things to work the country out of a depression. NOBODY can fix it for everyone but he did a good job of helping America recover.

I'm with Whytebyrd on this. At least the guy can say Nuclear. The Republicans are screaming about the bailouts, but no one is talking about the one they
did at the end of Bush's regime. I think the war in Iraq went a long way toward depleting our funds. The Republicans ran us into such a hole, they
couldn't see any way out so they ran that rediculous team of McCain and Pallin hoping to lose and blame the whole thing on the Democrats. Dirty politics.
On the other hand, Russia ruined herself fighting in Afghanistan and Obama seems to want to take a crack at it. I think we ought to bring all of our men home
and let the Iraqis and the Afghans take care of their own problems.

I actually like Obama. At least he is trying to do SOMETHING. He has a plan, and you may or may not agree with it, but he is trying to fix it as quickly as
possible. Can you really see McCain doing any better? If anything, I think he would have a hard time just grasping the issues and trying to figure out a
solution.
And for those that say they do not approve of the bailouts, what other option was there? Letting the whole system implode? Talk about a rock and a hard place... It is just refreshing to have someone intelligent in the White House. The past 8 years were painful. |

Why do you think he wants to do all of these things now? If things improve over the next three years, no one will remember what happened his first 65 days in office. They will just attribute the growing economy to him and it will be easy to re-elect him. Quite frankly, who do the Republicans have that could compete against him? Jindal? Palin? Neither one can inspire the way Obama can. He was able to get Republicans to vote for him for crying out loud. If you look at the country as a whole, his approval rating is already going back up. While I would agree with you that the Libertarian ideas are appealing, unfortunately they do not have enough backing to get anyone elected. |

Libertarian ideas are good in theory, but lack substantial studies to prove that they would work. And most people realize that there needs to be government
assistance, that our tax dollars provide for our schools and regulate many many industries, such as nursing homes, hair/nail/massage salons, restaurants, and
protect workers through OSHA, etc. Without taxes, we revert to medieval times, when only the wealthy and privileged were educated.

A lot of Libertarian economic ideas absolutely would not work, for some very obvious reasons. Not to mention much of their Social platform is barbaric, and no
civilized nation will ever implement it.
Still, they can be right on the occasional issue, they do represent a segment of society, and should not be ignored.

Ok, since this was on anger management,,,,,what pisses me off is the car companies are getting pretty substantial loans, the president is firing a ceo, they
have to change the way they do business, change change change, make one concession after another.....yet the auto union doesn't have to do diddly sqwat. I
heard the other day of a union charge saying they've made enough conesssions alreay....they have not made any! Actually they are expecting more money, more
pay, more pensions and are threatening to stop production if they don't get a slice of the bailout LOAN. Unions were once for fighting the abuses of greedy
corporations, but now this UAW has become the greedy corporation, they are the reasons why auto's are so expensive now, why americans are opting for better
made foreign imports, hell why even an american made car has 'made in china' written all over it.

The Republicans are screaming about the bailouts, but no one is talking about the one they did at the end of Bush's regime.No one in the press (or at least on Fox News) seem to be mentioning this. I like Obama a lot, but he's working with some power hungry Democrats in congress and some sour grapes Republicans. Bailouts are a terrible idea to begin with. These large banks invested poorly and gave mortgages to people who should never have qualified. They made bad, even irresponsible, decisions and Bush's answer was to give them a truckload of money. Obama's answer, more trucks! What if there was never a bailout? I think most people would have seen no change in their lives at all. With the bailout, people are still losing jobs, businesses are closing down and the homeless rate is increasing (at least here in Reno). Those investment firms and banks that were going under would have declared bankruptcy. Smaller banks, who acted prudently during yet another decade of greed, would have had the resources to buy whatever was of value from AIG or Bear-Sterns. They would have become even stronger banks. The same goes for the auto industry. What you are not hearing is that the auto industries problems are only partially about low sales. Back in the "good old days" (I'm not sure when exactly these days were, but people are always talking about them.), you had to go to your bank to get a loan for a car. In the 80's (or mayble the late 70's), auto companies came up with a great idea. They said "you know what, we could loan these people the money. That way we can collect the interest and make the sale." Soon the auto industry had also become its own banking industry. Soon they started expanding their loans, eventually lending commercially, providing credit cards and, yes, mortgages. This is why the auto industry is hurting so bad. Again, if you don't bail them out, they go bankrupt. Then a smaller, well-managed company, could buy what works and create a stronger company. So, the big companies get a handout for failing. The little guy just stays little. We are rewarding people who have failed and restricting people who are successful. It is anit-capitalist and both parties have bought into it. Now for my two cents worth. Hey, we have had a religious right democrat in office for the past 8 years called Bush Jr, and populist in for the previous 8
called Clinton, another RINO named Bush Sr. Now we have Obama, the jury is still out on wether he is a Facist, or a Communist. (I am almost convinced that if
you took Carter, Johnson, Roosevelt, and Wilson ( the four worst presidents the US has ever had) and combined them all together, they would still be better
than Obama.
Now check your history, we had the worst Depression In 1920 (that is correct, 1920) Harding was president and got us out in a few months. How? easy, the same way JFK, and Reagan straightened out bad recessions, get the government out of the way and let the economic system straighten the mess out. next Depression in 1929, what happened, Hoover tried to get the government involved and made matters worse, then FDR (Hitler and Mussolini praised him before WWII because he was a fellow fasicist ) came into power and really screwed things up. Hell he was Hoover on steriods. The only thing that got us out of the Depression was WW2. Next, libertarians, good in theory, bad in practice. With rights come responsibility, thats why when libertarians get older and have children, they become Republicans. Yes I was once a libertarian. Next bitch.. Why is it that 30 percent of people have no idea what the difference is between a Republican and a Democrat, yet they vote straight ticket everytime. Ask a Democrat why hes a lib and the only answer you get is "theyre for the working man" ( I have yet to figure that one out but hey, maybe im really missing something?) Ever notice a lib wil say " I feel someone needs to do something" and a conservative will say "I think I need to do something" Next bitch... Why cant the GOP actually get us a true conservative to vote for, (Palin doesnt count, she was the VP canidate) hell, we havent had a true republican president since Reagan. Why was the last elections choices between a Democrat, McCain, and some form of Communist called Obama? Next bitch.. Why should our tax money go to welfare, that's personal and corporate both. I dont expect Uncle Sam to bail out my GM stock, and I sure as hell dont expect them to bail the UAW out, If i lose my money in GM, that's my problem, and it sure as hell isn't my responsibility to take care of the UAW employees. And another thing, what gives Obama the right to fire a CEO of a private company, that is the board of directors job. Ive got a great idea, lets let the UAW run GM, they want to fight managment all the time and keep 20 people on the payroll to do the job of one, let them manage it and see if they can run GM, hell it would be beyond bankruptcy in a week. Better yet, why doesnt der furher Obama just nationalize the auto industry since everything the government touches does so well. Hey why is it Madoff goes to prison for the rest of his life for running a Ponzi scheme (yes he deserves it) but the politicians do the exact same thing, except they do it with trillions of dollars instead of millions, and get rewarded for doing a good job. Please give me another Reagan, Goldwater, Harding, Coolidge or even a JFK to vote for (yes JFK was a conservative by action) OK Im done ranting.
