I hesitate to post this, but it is a concept I have long wondered about. I do not mean to scare anyone, and I must admit, this idea is enough to get the hair
on the back of my neck sticking up straight, and to get the goosebumps at high alert, and increase the sensation that I am being watched and someone is
standing over my shoulder...
However... I wouldn't mind your collective opinion.
Is it possible...
... that the WTB&TS is actually the antichrist? That it is actually the ultimate double agent? A wolf in sheep's clothing?
It professes to belong to Jehovah, but it actually is the opposite?
When I consider all the behavior that is condoned by the witnesses that seems quite ungodly, this seems rather feasible. When I consider all the hurt and pain and death that the actions of witnesses bring to themselves and those around them, it seems feasible. When I consider all the false prophecies which seem to make a mockery of god, and turn many of us away from god, it seems feasible. Even door-to-door witnessing makes most people angry with religion in general. In fact, there is little about the witnesses that seems to refute this as a possibility.
Forgive me for saying what I've said, I'll feel terrible if I stumble anyone, but I think it has enough merit that it is worth saying. We are mostly anonymous here... The bible says the Anitchrist is coming (or may already be here), and indeed, the witnesses have only been around for 100 years or so, depending on when you start counting...
wikipedia: "Paul writes that this Man of Sin (sometimes translated son of perdition) will possess a number of characteristics. These include "sitting in the temple", opposing himself against anything that is worshiped, claiming divine authority,[12] working all kinds of counterfeit miracles and signs,[13] and doing all kinds of evil.[14] Paul notes that "the mystery of lawlessness"[15] (though not the Man of Sin himself) was working in secret already during his day and will continue to function until being destroyed on the Last Day.[16] His identity is to be revealed after that which is restraining him is removed."
wikipedia: "The term is also often applied to prophecies regarding a "Little horn" power in Daniel 7.[17] Daniel 9:27 mentions an "abomination that causes desolations" setting itself up in a "wing" or a "pinnacle" of the temple.[18] Some scholars interpret this as referring to the Antichrist.[19] Some commentators also view the verses prior to this as referring to the Antichrist.[20] Jesus refers to the references about abomination from Daniel 9:27, 11:31,[21] and 12:11[22] in Matthew 24:15[23] and Mark 13:14[24] when he warns about the destruction of Jerusalem. Daniel 11:36-37[25] speaks of a self exalting king, considered by some to be the Antichrist."
"Polycarp (ca. 69 - ca. 155) warned the Philippians that everyone that preached false doctrine was an antichrist.[29]"
And on and on...
