Hi guys, haven't been on here in a while, but I have been thinking about something a lot lately, and wonderd if anyone else here had the same experiance.
I think I was 8 when this happened; I was over at a friends house. Her house was and old farm house out in the sticks of southern michigan. We were playing in her living room, when the rocking chair started to rock on its own. We both looked over at the rocking chair and an old woman appeared, grayish, and more solid than transparent. When I asked my friend who that was, she said it was her grandmother, and her grandmother was dead. At that point the pair of us ran screaming from the room, and into her parents bedroom. Of course when they came out to check, the whatever it was, was gone. Affraid to spend the night, I had my parents come pick me up, and asked them what on earth that was. I asked if it was a ghost. My dad explained to me that it was a demon playing tricks on my mind. That didn't make me feel any better, in fact it made me feel much worse. For about 2 years afterward I was terrified of anything that even resembled a ghost, shadows, images on TV, I would have dreams of demons acending from below and talking to me in my living room.
I was not the only one in our congregation to have this type of experiance. One family was terrorized after bringing home a table from a garage sale (only fueling beliefs that garage sales are demonized) The mom was struck in the face with the above ground pool steps as the flew at her. She came to an assembly with a black eye. The family would come home and find the chairs of their new dinning table on top of the table. Their cat would hiss and growl everytime he saw the table, or looked in the mirror. The dad finally decided the table was the culprit and burn it. While the table smoldered, his dead mother appeared and was reaching out to him and screaming his name.
I recall a time when my mother, my sister and my moms friend and I were all in the bathroom at the KH, we heard the someone plunking keys on the piano. We came out of the bathroom and looked around the corner, no one was there. (our kingdom hall was on the same street as the family above)
With all of these "experiances" my parents always told me these were demonic tricks, designed to scare us and if we called on the name of jehovah we would be saved. I know better now, but i am curious, has anyone else had these experiance, or know of anyone? What was your parents or elders explaination?
