It's the fact that it is covered over, denied, or brushed under the carpet that is so disturbing. Bring this kindof stuff up to a witness and see how they handle it!

If Catholics are not "the truth" because of scandals, rapes, murders, harassment, then by that same standard, Jw org doesn't pass the same truth test either. ~I do not fear things that go bump in the night for I am that of which goes bump in the night~ By Me :^) WITCHBOARD

But there is pretty much nothing that they rely on as far as setting them "apart" that can really stand up. Not their marriages and family relationships. Not their parenting. Not their personal relationships within the congregations. Nothing. I know that when I was active in the org I was hired for numerous jobs because I was a witness and oh so trustworthy (I honestly was). But I can count off the top of my head at least 3 major cases of fraud and embezzling that occured in our two that made news. All 3 went to prison and one was JW who embezzled a couple hundred thousand dollars from her JW employer. So I could very well have robbed my employers blind. But that isn't me. The same as many of my non-JW friends and family are not. In fact, I honestly cannot tell you one instance that I know of personally that that type of thing has occurred. Strange huh? Not saying of course ONLY witnesses commit crime...but they sure as heck are not immune to it either apparently! I guess Satan just works sooooo much harder to corrupt these dear sweet innocent witnesses

A JW who was in charge of toxic waste in the town sold them the lot that they had the house built on. When they went to go build an inground pool, they were told that a bunch of toxic waste was dumped there and rendered the property and home not even worth a dollar. This put my aunt over the edge and she would up having a nervous break down over it. When it came time to sue this disgusting creature of the JW org, he simply filed for bankruptcy. The funniest was when a couple came knocking on the door once only to be greeted by my uncle who kindly shared what was done to them by a fellow of their kingdom hall and that they are never to ever come back there again. ~I do not fear things that go bump in the night for I am that of which goes bump in the night~ By Me :^) WITCHBOARD

My dad hired him to do some consulting while he built his home. That went ok. But another elder and his family hired him to build their dream home. He (the contractor elder) took the money and ran. Last I heard he was on the run and hiding. The family was left financially devastated and the mother (mother of 5 and grandmother to many by then) died of cancer a while later. There definitely is no immunity for them as far as honesty goes....not even within their org.
