Sorry I haven't been around much, I still lurk occasionally, but work has been keeping me busy.
But I just had to share the most recent news. My daughter Amber is now 15 and a sophomore at school.
She was asked to prom by a junior and they went this past Saturday! You know since Jdubs weren't allowed to go to prom
I HAD to live vicariously through her for the night. She was so gorgeous I just had to share the pictures!
Here she is with her date, Chris. His mother and I made him sit so we could take pictures of him,
what mean moms we are! Here are a couple where I managed to make him give a decent smile.
And of course, little sis Karen HAD to get in on the action.
Amber said she had a great time. Chris's family is from Germany, and my dad is German,
so I think she might have mentioned it to grandpa the other night that she went to prom with a
German guy. I'm sure JW grandpa liked hearing that!
She said Chris was a gentlemen, held the door open for her, took her to a really nice restaurant.
He had asked her if she wanted to go steady, but Amber said no. She says she really doesn't want to date anyone
right now, she wants to stay single. Sometimes I wonder if she's my child, LOL.
But then I shouldn't be surprised, I guess my theory of "middle of the road" parenting was right. I'm not too strict, but not too lax with my girls,
and so far they've turned out okay. On New Year's Eve I even asked Amber if she wanted to taste some champagne, but she declined.
Just goes to show, if you forbid your kids from doing something, that only makes them want to do it even more!
But if you let them get a taste, most of the time they don't go crazy. Something MY parents could've learned!!
They were strict, even for JW standards, and when I finally moved out I went CRAZY and got into a lot of trouble.
I've been determined not to do that with my girls and so far my approach has done alright. *fingers crossed*
