It was just a very simple civil ceremony as we preferred to spend what little savings that we had on our honeymoon rather than a fancy wedding. There were about 10-15 people in attendance I think. The day was a little bit bittersweet for me... I was super happy to finally be marrying David, but it was really sad for me that I was surrounded by strangers and not a single member of my own family. I would have given anything to have had my mother there, I would have postponed the wedding for years if it meant she could come, but my family are all hardcore JWs still so you all know why that wouldn't be possible. There were only 4-5 people that I actually knew, the rest I had either met briefly before or not at all but they were guests of David's mother(some extended family, some of her coworkers). I didn't much care to have strangers that meant nothing to either myself or my husband there at this intimate ceremony, but his mother was already distressed enough that we refused to have a Catholic wedding(I'm atheist, he was raised Catholic but is now agnostic), so it kept her happy.
