I have had a couple new additions to my family that I would like to introduce but, first, I would like to post a few photos of dear friends that are no longer here.
This thread is dedicated to my great loves in life who have already left.
Jacques - my daughter and son-in-law's dog - died in April 2014 after a courageous and spectacular battle with cancer. He was 7 years old and a soldier to the end. RIP, my brave and handsome friend.
Foo - my son's dog - lived a long and healthy life - an athlete always! Foo passed on in summer 2013. My fine and loyal guardian.
I loved those two dogs and this is why. I could sleep with them cuddled up to me:
But heaven help anyone who came near!
My heart will always hold those two soldiers close, but they have been replaced with two more.
I am now the proud grandmama of two more beautiful dogs.
This is Elliott. He is my daughter and son-in-law's dog - a new companion to make use of Jacque's bed and toys. He is a rescue dog from California. There are shelters up here in Canada that rescue dogs from shelters in high kill areas and this guy, a 2 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, arrived just before the snow fell last fall. He was not impressed with the cold and had to wear a jacket for his walks He is a big baby and, when he is not being stubborn, very well mannered. He loves to play and cuddle, and rarely barks. His personality is quite a change from King Jacques!
And here is Zoe. She is still a puppy. I think she is about 4 months old...I am not sure. I have only seen photos of her.
Zoe is my son's new dog - this photo was taken in Southern China, where he is living now. I don't know if I will ever get to meet Zoe - China is a long ways away! It has been over 4 years since I saw my son - he is living his dream. And now he has a new friend to keep him company. I think a girl dog will be good for him - his first dog was a female Chocolate Lab. She was his best friend from when he was 2 years old until she died at 10 years of age.
And speaking of that old dog - she was the one who started this "dog love". I got her for my son when they were both pups and they grew up together. I think she was a better mother to him than I was at times!
