This is my first post here, so - Hello to everyone
I myself, am not actually a Jehovah's Witness, nor have I ever been. I hope it's okay that I am posting here. Recently I have become more and more
interested in the religion. Not in the "I might want to join way" but in the concerned way.
My brother in law became a study sixth months ago and now he is getting baptised this weekend. If I'm honest, these past sixth months have been
increasingly more like hell for my family in some,or perhaps many, ways. And I can only assume, from what I've learned so far, that after this weekend, it
will get even worse.
I've been researching and reading a lot lately, and in my research I stumbled across this site. I've been reading a lot of your stories for several
days now and I have to say I am truly sorry for what some of you have been through, or are still going through.
I decided to post because I want to learn more about the religion. I have many questions so far, and I can imagine that many more will pop up. I would simply
ask my brother in law these questions, but a)I don't think he would have a discussion about beliefs with me, considering he knows I am a strong Christian
and b) whenever we do talk about spiritual issues, it's very one-sided, with him preaching at me. I'm afraid that any questions I ask he takes as a
sign that I am interested in joining and not as a sign that his belief confuses me and I am trying to make sense of it. And, quite frankly, I'm sick of
every answer I get somehow winding back to an answer about armageddon. So, needless to say, I've been trying to find someone to ask my questions to -
someone who knows the beliefs and religion well - but someone who will answer them in a less preachy sort of way.
I hope you all are having a wonderful day
~VM
