The Humane Society of the United States is hosting a free Lobbying for Animals seminar on Wednesday, September 17, where participants will learn how to make a tremendous difference for animals in Maine. R.S.V.P. to attend this free seminar. The Maine State Legislature is currently out of formal session, but that doesn't mean that nothing is happening. Lots of great lobbying can happen at this time that will impact animal welfare. We want you to know the most effective ways to get involved and communicate your message. We will show you basic "lobby" techniques for citizen activists and provide information regarding some of the activities happening this year. We will also look to the next session, which begins in January of 2009, and review possible legislation concerning issues such as farm animal welfare, puppy mills, and wildlife related legislation. Please take time to attend this event to support the ongoing efforts to protect the animals of Maine. Feel free to bring a friend and pass this information on to others who might like to join us. Hope to see you there! Love, Amanda P.S. Maine is currently in the process of creating a pet-friendly license plate to help combat cruelty across the state! In order for the legislature to consider the idea, we need to pre-sell 2,000 plates by September 1 |
