This was one of the things that really got me thinking. It's just not practical in my brain.
The cycle of change, we need the bad to appreciate the good, everyone needs to grow, then we need to finalise and get rid of the useless. Violence is definately a part of this, it sucks but if we all ended up in paradise and lived forever then we'd be far more overpopulated than we are already are, popping sprogglings out even once a millenia. Their ideal of perfection is imperfect in it self. My view is we are perfect as we are, and we do our best to make it more so.
Remember the tracts, especially the one with the child sat next to a big ass lion? Well ok with the exception of uber taming, this is blatantly not possible... Lion's nature says ooo looky at the child miaows FOOOOD! Any predatory animal in their paradise would probably die of starvation otherwise. It just goes against nature. Would we humans resort to vegetarianism, or would our prospective grub wander up to us and go "Kill me I wanna be your food!".
What about the idealistic pics of fruitful vegetation, exotic flowers all over the place? It depends on where in the world you are, but after time wouldnt even those georgous habitats be eventually consumed in earths tectonic movements etc? Personally I love my local land loads, yeah I wish there was more country and less pollution, but asking for tropics in my area I'd probably get queasy from the humidity, plus my skin wouldn't be able to handle the uber sun. I'll stick to my temperate area thnx. Blatantly misleading methinks. What about the nomads in the desert? They live their life that way and appreciate it. I think living on the edge and being skint is better than having money. I've had money for a while and I was miserable as hell, suppose they were right about one thing.
Ok so we'd have the 1000yrs before paradise would become a reality supposedly where we'd clear up the mess from the supposed sinners, would we drop technologies developed? What about all the things humans have endeavored for, like medicine, transport, knowledge, technology in general? Would most of these be abandoned? Ok maybe the medicine supposedly seeing as we're supposed to live forever being perfect and everything. But arent some plants poisonous? Would we become invincible to everything?
Loads of things to think about, and I'm sure there's more that I havent mentioned.
